Dr Richard Lim Boon Leong
Dr. Richard Lim graduated MBBS from University Malaya in 1996. He obtained membership with the Royal College of Physicians, MRCP (UK) in 2000 followed by Diploma in Palliative Care (Edith Cowan Uni. Australia) 2003 and Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians 2006. He is currently Consultant Palliative Medicine Physician and Head of Palliative Care Unit, Hospital Selayang, Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Richard Lim’s interest in palliative care started when he was a medical officer in Alor Star Hospital when he developed the palliative care unit of Hospital Alor Setar in 1998 and founded the Kedah Hospice Association in 2000. His previous experience include Clinical Specialist in Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine at Selayang Hospital (2002 - 2005) and Palliative Medicine Registrar, Sydney Institute of Palliative Medicine (Jan 2006 - Jan 2007). He serves as National Advisor in Palliative Medicine for the Ministry of Health Malaysia and heads the Palliative Medicine Subspecialty Committee in the Academy of Medicine Malaysia, College of Physicians. He is also Honorary lecturer in Palliative Medicine at 2 local medical schools, HUKM and UITM. He also chairs the Cancer Pain Management Clinical Practice Guideline Development Committee in the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
